GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

HONGKONG. 4th. May, 1916.

Referring to my Despatch No. 261 of the 17th

5652 July, 1914, and to your telegram of the 25th. September, 1914, In reply, I have the honour to state that the resumption of the land required for the extension of the Central Police Station has now been effected, at a total inclusive cost of $244,353.

2.

It was stated in paragraph 3 of my Despatch under reference that the Land Officer's valuation was in the sum of 8178,000; but this figure, which was the value put upon the property in 1905 for purposes of probate, was unfortunately given in error for the Land Officer's actual valuation in the sum of $250,000.

3.

I now enclose detailed plans of the buildings

which it is proposed to erect, and I also attach a report of the proceedings of the Public Works Committee in which an explanation is given of the works to be undertaken.

4.

It is estimated that these buildings, exclusive of any provision for furniture, will cost $255,000. A sum of $30,000 has been provided for work to be carried out during the current year, and as it is desirable that a commencement should be made at as early a date as possible, I shall be glad if you will be so good as to convey your approval by telegraph.

BA

I have the honour to be, Sir,

Your most obedient, humble servant,

Governor, &c..

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

AN IRET BONAR
